Q.Could you tell me how you started this work?

Mr. Isogai:Since I was young I was good at craftwork and I liked it.When I became a college student I went to the workshop.Because of the Washington Convention it became difficult to obtain materials, and I thought about the way of teachers at once, but as my father cleared the problem, I went on to this way without hesitation.

Q.Could you tell me about the training days?

Mr. Isogai:The technique was taught directly from my father. As for other things I want to make, I have been going to the workshop, listening to the way to do it, stealing skill which I can exploit, increasing the kinds of things I can make more and more.

Q.What is the biggest appeal of tortoiseshell?

Mr. Isogai:It is the natural color of tortoiseshell.Even if I make the same type of thing, since the value changes completely depending on the color, that kind of point is attractive.

Q.Is there anything you would like to try on in the future?

Mr. Isogai:I personally want to make something amazing for people. As for the whole workshop, We would like to continually make accessories comfortable to wear.We recently have thought that it is better not to be a strange design.

Q.Could you please tell me your thoughts on continuing tradition?

Mr. Isogai:I think that I want to succeed to future generations.I think there is a responsibility to connect. However, at the present moment there is no material problem (because the international trade of tortoises is prohibited in the Washington Treaty) has not been cleared, so twist your head with youngsters in the industry and make a system that can be done permanently I hope I can go.
