Work process (Material delivery － Scratching)
1.Material delivery

2.Stamping
Choose a beautiful pattern while lighting the material.Since stamping is also the sensibility of the maker, the place to hit the mold by the creator is different even from the same shell.
3.Cutting out
Cut the shell by thread saw along the stamped line.Look for the part of the color similar to the cut out material and cut out several pieces.
4.Heating
Heat is put into the shell by heated iron plate and steamed towel, draws the stickiness of the shell and stretches the material flat.
5.Removal of scratches
Carefully remove the scratches of the material with "Gangi", sword and etc. Scratches are carefully removed as much as the inner side where the shells are stitched together.
Work process (Roughing － Polishing)
6.Roughing
After handling scratches carefully, we will attach fine scratches with waterproof paper.This uniform scratch increases the biting force of the joint surface。
7.Crimp＆lamination
Sandwich it with heated iron plate, paste several pieces of shells together.It is a unique characteristic of tortoiseshell that can join materials without using adhesive.
8.Shaping
I cut and cut off the pasted material with a thread saw and shape it.
9.Polishing
Include abrasive in rotating buff and polish.Finally it is completed with wiping with deer leather.

Most of the processes are done on the workbench.Triangular wooden boards mounted on the workbench are called horses.
The reason why cloth is stretched on the rod extending from under the work bench is to collect the tortoise powder which is scraped off.
